Community Acupuncture in Kona!

COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE IN KONA

We are excited to announce that we are now offering community acupuncture along with our normal private acupuncture sessions and other services. Community acupuncture is actually how the vast majority of acupuncture happens in China. A community setting allows for a lower pricing scale and this may help some people get treatments more regularly. In China, if you have an acute condition, an acupuncture physician may recommend treatment two or three times a week, and many chronic conditions would respond much better if treated weekly. However, this can be cost-prohibitive for many people. Thus, Dr. April and Dr. Dan have always envisioned being able to provide acupuncture the way it was meant to be used!

PLEASE CALL/TEXT THE CLINIC TO BOOK A SPOT. DUE TO STAFFING SHORTAGE, WE DO NOT OFFER ONLINE BOOKING FOR THIS SERVICE. PLEASE CALL /TEXT AND WE WILL FIND A SPOT THAT WORKS FOR YOU AND OUR DOCTORS!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Our community acupuncture treatments will take place in our expansive community room that has HEPA air filtration. Each patient sits in a reclining zero-gravity chair. Appointments are staggered throughout the hour. To maximize treatment time, patients are expected complete their online forms before treatment. Once your appointment is booked, the forms will be emailed to you, simply fill them out on your phone, tablet or computer and hit “submit” at the very end. NOTE- there is a medical intake and a few required forms such as HIPAA- please fill them all out and hit submit at the very end!

Once you show up for your appointment, payment is made ahead of time so that after you are done you can simply leave. You will be assigned a chair and one of our doctors will come and speak with you and place needles. In community acupuncture, acupoints in the ears, lower arms and lower legs are the most commonly used. There are dozens of very strong powerful points in these regions. Once needles are placed, patients can sit back and relax! Depending on the condition being treated, needles may stay in place from 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Most of our patients experience deep relaxation during treatment. The cost is $50 per treatment.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PRIVATE SESSION AND COMMUNITY STYLE ACUPUNCTURE

Because we can treat so many things in a community setting, you might wonder how it’s different than private treatment. In private treatments, patients are on a flat table and may receive treatments on both their back/front or just one side, depending on what’s being addressed. The other major difference is that in private treatment, the doctors are able to do an expanded treatment, often with fire cupping, electro-acupuncture, gua-sha, manual bodywork and kinesiotaping; essentially, whatever is needed to address the issue. Because of this, the private treatments are typically between 75-90 minutes long and are more expensive. At times, electrostimulation and gua sha are used in community acupuncture but not as frequently.
